The Water Vapor Transmission Tester is useful for quality testing. It measures the WVTR - Water Vapor Transmission Rate. Its applications include paper, board, plastics, aluminium, rubber, etc.

It is also known as water vapor transmission rate (WVTR) or moisture vapor transmission rate (MVTR).

Test Principle:

The WVTR is the mass of water vapor transmitted through a unit area in a unit time. This is under specified conditions of temperature and humidity. Its usually expressed in grams per square meter per day g/(m .d). Above all, WVTR is a key characteristic to specify sheet materials in the packaging industry.

test method:

To conduct the test, add distilled water to the dry and clean moisture-permeable cup, seal the cup with a pre-treated sample, and place it in the test chamber. By controlling the temperature and humidity, the distilled water in the moisture-permeable cup evaporates, and the resulting water vapor passes through the film.


The drying device absorbs and measures the weight of distilled water in the moisture-permeable cup over time, allowing the determination of parameters such as the moisture permeability of the sample. This process is crucial for assessing the efficiency of the Single Cell Water Vapor Permeability Tester.
