How to control the shrinkage rate of textile?
Shrinkage rate of textiles has always been a problem for textile enterprises: the percentage of textile shrinkage after washing or soaking. With regard of the problem of shrinkage, early in 2004 the national standards of textile products made specific provision: the dimensional changes of high class textile products cannot exceed 2%-3%, textile products of grade one shall not exceed 2%-4%, and qualified products will not be more than 2% - 2%.
Root cause of Shrinkage
Throughout the whole textile industry, at present in domestic textile market, whether small workshop or formal brand enterprise, basically it has not marked "shrinkage rate" on product packaging; Is this the so-called collective negligence in the textile weaving industry?
It is known to all that the controlling of textile shrinkage requires a preshrunk treatment process or post-finishing process. This process will cost a certain sum of money both on technological process and technical personnel. At present, the domestic textile shrinkage test is a must test item especially that the textile export enterprises are more demanding. There are many textile enterprises that export to Europe and America. Textile washing shrinkage testing services are generally using the American standard shrinkage washing machine or the European standard shrinkage washing machine or as required by European standard and Japanese standard. Different countries have different testing requirements.
General textile enterprises have specialized departments responsible for the shrinkage testing and other indicators of textiles. Of course, it is feasible to entrust a third party inspection agencies to inspect and then issue an inspection certification. All these tests exhibits the situation that the shrinkage rate of textiles can't be solved. The shrinkage rate of textiles stems from the materials, production process and subsequent use, so we should start with these aspects.
To solve the shrinkage problem of textiles, enterprises should address the following aspects:
1. Qualified fabric: the manufacturers need to attach great importance to the quality control of fabric when procuring the fabrics in accordance with clients’ requirement and test the purchased fabrics. The quality of the fabric directly affects the shrinkage rate of the finished product. The upstream and downstream enterprises shall attach importance to it.
2. Strict process:In the process of production, the manufacturer should attach importance to the sorting procedure, so that the shrinkage rate of the fabric after pre-shrunk treatment can be effectively controlled within the standard or customer's requirements.
3. Self-checking and self-control: strengthen inspect the finished products before leaving the factory. Mark the “shrinkage rate” on the product label as required to make the consumer better understand the details of the product and accept their examination for continuous optimization and improvement.
