Test method for flexing resistance of leather fabrics
Bally flex tester is designed to evaluate the flexural resistance of leather to continual flexure. The 12-station flex tester is a popular model. The user can easily change the station arrangement, take and install samples. The whole tester is of stainless steel structure. Digital counter can preset the running times so that the instrument automatically stops when reaching the set values with no need of staff to attend to.
1. Test purpose: To test the resistance of leather fabrics to bending or other types of damage during the bending process.
2. Reference: Test method: SATRA TM55.
3. Test equipment.
B. Chopper (70mmx45mm);
4. Test steps.
A. Use chopper to chop 70mmx45mm from the material to be tested as the test sample, two pieces parallel to the horizontal direction, two pieces parallel to the vertical direction;
B. Use arrows to mark the direction of the test piece;
C. Level the upper fixture;
D. Fold the specimen in the center line along the length of the specimen, paying attention to the surface inward;
E. Put the test piece into the upper clamp and make it clamped;
F. Fold the test piece backwards so that the surface of the test piece is outward;
G. Adjust the appropriate tension and clamp the specimen in the lower fixture;
H. Repeat procedures B through G for additional specimens;
I. Set up the bending machine for 50,000 cycles and start bending, check the specimen at 10,000/25,000/35,000/40,000 cycles, then at 2,000 intervals, record the extent and type of damage;
J. Make the final inspection at 50,000 times and record the results.
