Do you kown what is the multi-finger scratch/mar tester 710?
Multi-finger scratch/mar tester 710 is used to measure the susceptibility of material surfaces to scratching, marring, gouging, and other similar physical damage not classified as ordinary wear.
Multi-finger scratch/mar tester 710 is popular in the automotive industry for testing smooth or grained plastics commonly used in ornamentation or trim. Useful for quality control as well as material or product development, it is ideal for evaluating plastics, rigid organic materials, paints and coatings, soft metals, linoleum, plus many others.
The design of the multi-finger scratch/mar tester 710 is based on the equipment described in the automotive specifications (including Ford BN 108-13; General Motors GMN3943; Daimler-Chrysler LP-463DD-18-01 & PF-10938; and Nissan NEW M0159 Supplement U01 -1), usually called Taber 710 Scratch and Mar tester.
The multi-finger scratch/mar tester 710 includes a pneumatically driven movable carriage on which the test sample is mounted. The sled moves in a linear manner and is operated by the control knob to perform one or more pass tests. The electronic timer displays the speed, and the speed can be controlled by reducing or increasing the air pressure.
The gantry supports five independent spline fingers to provide a constant vertical load on interchangeable scrapers (a hemisphere with a diameter of 1.0 mm or 7.0 mm). The gantry system includes a handle for raising and lowering the arm. In addition, five support frames are included to allow one or more arms to be moved to an upright resting position so that the arms do not touch the sample during the test.
A single weight with different loads is installed on the top of the finger of each arm to apply a standard force on the surface of the test material. Each instrument includes a set of 2N, 3N, 4N, 5N, 6N, 7N, 10N, 15N, and 20N loads. Other weights can be used for 8N, 13N, 18N and 25N. Using the precision weight kit, a load of 0.6N can be obtained.
