Geotextile Thickness Meter

The Geotextile Thickness Meter is designed to measure the thickness of geotextiles, nonwoven fabrics, carpets, and other compressible sheet materials under specified pressure conditions. It uses a presser foot, reference plate, and calibrated weights to apply controlled pressure to the specimen, allowing thickness measurements to be taken under defined loading conditions.

The instrument features a digital indicator with automatic zeroing and supports different presser feet and loading configurations for various testing applications. The standard thickness gauge can accommodate specimens up to 25 mm thick, while alternative gauges are available for thicker materials. It is suitable for geotextile testing laboratories, textile manufacturers, and quality inspection departments.

(1) Geotextiles: Measurement of geotextile thickness under prescribed pressure conditions for material characterization and quality control.

(2) Nonwoven Fabrics: Thickness measurement using suitable presser feet and loading configurations.

(3) Carpets: Evaluation of carpet thickness under specified pressure, including compression and elastic recovery when the appropriate test setup is used.

(4) Carpet Backings and Underlays: Thickness measurement and evaluation of compression-related properties.

(5) Foam Materials: Thickness measurement of compatible flexible foam specimens.

(6) Textiles and Leather: Thickness measurement of suitable textile, leather, and rubber materials using compatible fixtures.

Special Instructions

1, in the carpet test, in order to test the thickness and compression recovery, the instrument can provide a presser foot and a set of weights in order to provide 2-200 kpa pressure. In the non-woven testing, the need to provide a different specifications of the presser foot.

2, the test results displayed on the digital indicator, the indicator can automatically return to zero.

3, the standard thickness gauge can measure the thickness of 25 mm of the sample, which can provide a flexible solution for different applications. For samples with a thickness of more than 25 mm, other thickness gauges can be selected.
